The Bridge of Sighs

Ok, so it’s actually called Hertford Bridge,  linking Hertford’s main quad  with its New quad but I’ve only ever heard anyone called it ‘The Bridge of Sighs’.

It’s resemblance to the Venetian Bridge and its stunning architecture have made it quite the landmark in Oxford and a particularly popular tourist photo spot.

The bridge was built in 1913 and designed by Sir Thomas Jackson, the architect who designed other Oxford college buildings but this has to be one of the most iconic.

So next time you’re in Oxford check it out…walk under it…view it from afar…and obviously get that all important photo!
