Self-belief

Now Oxford certainly don't want students with so much confidence that they think they know more than the tutors because that, of course, is arrogance but a little bit of self-belief can go along way...

So many students don't apply to Oxford because:

  1. They don't think they're clever enough.

  2. They're school tell them they won't get in.

  3. They're intimidated.

Well number 1, 2 and 3 all applied to me...

  1. I was sure I needed to be an actual genius

  2. My school told me I wouldn't get in for English and that I should apply for Politics.

  3. I was was 100% terrified

But I didn't allow any of those things to actually STOP me from giving it a go.

Let's face it, it's one out of five choices on your UCAS form, so if it all goes pear-shaped you'll hopefully have four other options to fall back on.

If you have the grades and think you'd like Oxford then what to you have to lose?!

Top Tips

  • Ignore the voice in your head saying 'they won't want me'.

  • Give it a go!
