Exams

If exams make your toes curl and tummy do somersaults, the Oxford system might fill you with dread, for exams are the main way you're tested throughout your degree.

Some students have to take them every year, others only in their first and last year but whatever subject you do, you'll be unable to escape the exam heavy mode of testing.

Being able to work under pressure is key to succeeding at Oxford. For some students their entire degree rests on around eight, three hour exams in their final term. Sounds intense? It is, but Oxford know you can do it, as to get in, high grades are part of the criteria!

Top Tips

  • You get used to the exam papers in the years running up to your finals, with termly 'collections' (mock examinations).

  • There are welfare officers in place at every college if the stress ever gets too much.
