The Vanbrugh House Hotel

Last week, I was lucky enough to spend a night at The Vanbrugh House Hotel. This gorgeous boutique hotel is situated on St Michael's Street, directly opposite the Oxford Union. It's a few steps away from the buzzing city centre but just far enough away to offer a quiet spot, away from the hustle and bustle of Cornmarket.

The stunning 18th century stone building blends beautifully with the traditional architecture of the dreaming spires and is a quintessentially English place to stay, whilst enjoying all that the city has to offer.

The hotel has 22 charming rooms, with a colour palette of deep greys and creams, it gives of a stylish vibe mixed with eclectic, historical features.

I stayed over with my friend and we enjoyed the 'superior twin' room, with huge bay windows overlooking the Oxford Union. The staff were welcoming and super helpful from the moment we arrived and when we met the owner, it was clear that what makes the hotel really unique is the personal touch which is often lacking in city hotels.

Breakfast was just delicious; we went all out, trying both the continental and full English (because why not?!). We were fit to burst but with the city on our doorstep then worked it off, enjoying a tourist day around Oxford.

For those of you heading to Oxford for the Oxford Open Days on 27th and 28th June, if you are looking for a place to stay, I would highly recommend the Vanbrugh. It is just a few steps away from many of the Oxford colleges and a few minutes from the departments. You'd be hard pushed to find anywhere quite so immersed in the city centre!

Use the code VAN15 when booking your room for the Oxford open days for a students & parents 15% Discounted Rate, which will be available from 19/06/208 until 30/06/2018
